The hockey community is mourning after the death of a 19-year-old hockey player in a motorcycle crash Monday night.
Stacey-Lynn Kenny and her father were on a motorcycle in Aquaforte around 8:30 when it struck a moose.
The two were pronounced dead at the scene.
Her coach, Donny Gosse, says he wasn’t sure if she would play hockey last season after she was hospitalized last summer.
“Coming into the league, she spent several weeks in hospital battling Crohn’s, then she had a big rehab and persevered. She came to training camp and at that point she was very determined to play at a high level again,” he told VOCM News.
“Her biggest impact is just her attitude. She was just such a light. She could bring light to any dressing room when maybe things were a little serious. She was always the one to lighten the mood.”
