Northwest River in Terra Nova National Park to salmon angling this weekend.

The quota is 100 fish.

Parks Canada requires anglers to have both a Newfoundland and Labrador inland Salmon License and a National Park Salmon License.

Twenty-five years ago, salmon numbers on the northwest River were alarmingly low, with only 153 fish recorded at the counting fence.

A coalition has been working over the past twenty years or so to get those numbers up. Data from last year recorded 906 salmon.
