The mayor of Placentia says the potential for economic growth and development is “endless” following news of some major upgrades coming to the Marine Atlantic ferry terminal in Argentia.

There are several projects planned with the $270-million from Ottawa, one of the most significant of which being dock upgrades in Argentia that will bring it up to the same standard as Port aux Basques.

Mayor Jamie Neville believes the “future is very bright” for the area.

He says when the dock upgrades are complete, Argentia will be able to handle every ship in Marine Atlantic’s fleet, which will increase access.
