The President of NAPE says employers need to do more to provide mental health support for its employees.
The union held a panel on mental health earlier this week with representatives from the Canadian Mental Health Association and local advocates.
Jerry Earle says that while some employers have started offering support, there’s still a ways to go.
“Employees need to know that, when we talk about supports, they have the support of their employer. If they need help, they know they can count on their employer to have supports in place, not only for them, but for their families as well,” he told VOCM News.
“When we have a mental health injury or an adverse effect from a mental health injury, families are impacted, co-workers are impacted.”
