The provincial government says waterbombers were able to make significant progress on two wildfires burning in Labrador West.
Crews were deployed to tackle a fire in the Walsh River yesterday that prompted an evacuation order for several cabin areas and a state of emergency by the Town of Labrador City.
The evacuation order remains in place for the areas of Walsh River, Throne Lake cabin area, Duley Park Campgrounds and Tamarack Golf Course.
Those in the affected areas have been told to go to Menihek High School.
Crews were also able to make progress on a blaze burning east of Wabush at De Mille Lake.
An incident management team will be on site today to assist with firefighting efforts.
