A Newfoundlander serving a life sentence in connection with the murder of a man in North River more than a decade ago has died in prison.
Corrections Canada says 63-year-old Al Potter passed away Wednesday at the Donnacona Institution in Quebec where he was serving his sentence.
Potter was convicted in 2019 in the stabbing death of 39-year-old Dale Porter who was found fatally wounded at the foot of his driveway on June 29, of 2014.
Potter appealed the conviction, but the appeal was dismissed.
Corrections Canada says Potter’s family has been notified.
The circumstances surrounding his death are under review as is the case with the death of any inmate.
