The province’s seafood industry has surpassed a major milestone.
The combined market value of the commercial fishery and the aquaculture industry reached $2.11 billion in 2025.
That’s an all-time high, driven primarily by the shellfish and groundfish industries.
The market value of the province’s commercial fishery was $1.66 billion last year, while the aquaculture industry was valued at $453 million – employing a combined total of 17,000 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
