A St. John’s singer is in the running to be named Canada’s Next Country Music Star.

Paige Penney is one of three musicians to make it to the final round of the Country Rising competition. People have until Monday to vote for her to win.

The grand prize includes $10,000 for her music career and the chance to tour across the country.

Penney calls making it to the final three “amazing.”

She says she has been writing music since she was seven, and has been performing since the age of nine. She says making it so far in the competition validates all of her hard work so far.

People can cast a vote in the Country Rising competition every day until Monday.
