What started as a run-of-the-mill performance for a local singer over the weekend, ended with her sharing the stage with one of the biggest names in pop music.
Julia Dawson was performing at Zimmy’s inside the JAG Hotel when Kesha, who was in town to perform at Churchill Park, unexpectedly joined her on stage to cover The Beatles’ song “Come Together.”
Dawson says she didn’t realize it was Kesha when she first approached the stage.
She says once the singer opened her mouth she realized “this is Kesha. Like, what the actual heck is going on?”
When asked what it means to have shared the stage with such a massive name in the music industry, Dawson says she “can’t event put it into words.”
A video of the performance has been going viral on social media, and Kesha herself posted on X about the performance.
The post reads “incredible voice. I was stunned!” To that, Dawson says “What do you mean you were stunned? It’s insane, it’s just so crazy that this billionaire pop star, who literally had number one hits for so, so long, just sang with me and Bruce.”
