The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has confirmed that a man charged in connection with two fires in the metro region involving communications equipment is now a suspect in nine others.

Earlier today, 30-year-old Patrick Donald Greer made his first appearance in a St. John’s courtroom to answer to two charges of arson, and two counts of mischief by damaging property.

Those charges are in relation to a fire at a communication tower in Pippy Park, and a radio tower on Densmore’s Lane on Monday.

Now, the RNC have confirmed that Greer is a suspect in nine other fires that occurred around the metro region, including one that damaged three cell towers on top of the Bell Aliant building on Duckworth Street last week.

Greer’s next court date has been set for next Wednesday at 3 p.m. for a status update.

Meanwhile, another matter involving Greer is making its way through the courts in Stephenville. There, the man is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime. His next court date on that charge is September 3rd.
