For the first time in living memory, there will be no stroke-by-stroke broadcast on mainstream media of the Royal St. John’s Regatta this year.
The event goes ahead Wednesday, weather permitting, with the “go/no-go” announcement from pondside at about 5:30 or shortly after.
VOCM called each race from start to finish for decades, then VOCM and Rogers were each doing it for several years but for the past while, it has been the sole domain of Rogers. However, Regatta President Keith White says the only live broadcast this year will be NTV for the two championship races.
“That’s the extent of it, so I encourage people to visit our Facebook page to see the drone coverage of each race and the medal presentations as well,” says White.
