Work is underway to have a ‘St. John’s’ welcome sign situated outside Mary Brown’s Centre as a way to help residents form an opinion on where it should be placed for good.

The $80,000 sign has been sitting in storage for the last year after plans to erect it in Bannerman Park were shot down by the public.

Mayor Danny Breen says it will be going outside the Mary Brown’s Centre for now while they await feedback from residents on a permanent location.

Breen says they wanted people to see the sign for themselves in order for them to give proper feedback. The structure should be in place outside the arena in the next couple of days.

Any feedback can be submitted through Engage St. John’s until September 18th.
