Flights in and out of Wabush airport were disrupted once again due to a lack of firefighting capacity.
Mayor Gertie Canning says as of this morning, PAL had indicated that flights of 19 seats or greater are not flying in or out of Lab West.
She says the disruption comes after a piece of firefighting equipment used at the airport broke down.
Canning calls it a “critical” airport firefighting vehicle, and it’s breakdown has triggered safety restrictions applying to any flight of 19 seats or greater. She says medevac and smaller aircraft are still able to take off and land from Wabush.
