A section of Brookfield Road in St. John’s, which has been severed from the main stretch with the construction of the extension to the Team Gushue Highway, is getting a new name.

Major changes have been made to the road network in the area to accommodate the new section of highway, which cuts across Brookfield Road

That reconfiguration has split the road into two separate streets.

The main road from Bowring Park, which now turns to connect to the new roundabout at the top of Commonwealth Avenue, will stay as Brookfield Road.

However, the other portion, which begins near the Orangestore in Mount Pearl, has been converted into a cul-de-sac and will be renamed Brookfield Place.
