Just one day after the world learned of the passing of Dolly Parton, another well-known performer has passed away.

Tim Curry, the British actor famous for his role as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, died yesterday at the age of 80.

Curry started his career in London’s West End in Hair and went on to perform in musicals including The Pirates of Penzance and Spamalot.

But it was his role as a transvestite mad scientist with a posh accent that brought him to super stardom.

Curry is also known for his performance as Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King’s television series ‘It,’ and for Home Alone II among a long list of other notable starring and supporting roles.

He earned three Tony Awards over his career, including best actor in a play for Amadeus, and two separate best actor in a musical awards, for My Favorite Year in 1993, and Spamalot in 2005.

Curry suffered a major stroke in 2012, a health setback from which he never fully recovered.
