The chair of Team Labrador, formed a few weeks ago in the wake of the hydro deal with Quebec, says the MHA for the southern region is not correct when she says her area is being shut out because of lack of representation.

Lela Evans, the minister of Labrador and Indigenous affairs, and fellow government members Keith Russell and Joe Power are part of the team but the MHA for Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair is disappointed that she was left outside looking in.

She believes that will leave an entire region of Labrador without direct input into the follow-through on cashing in on the economic benefits and spinoff from the hydro projects.

However, Minister Evans assures that will not be the case as the committee will travel throughout Labrador to hear from residents.

“We will be engaging with the residents of southern Labrador, with the residents of Lake Melville, Labrador West and Torngat Mountains,” said Evans. “We want to hear from everyone because we want to do government better.”
