The provincial government has launched a public engagement process as part of its review of the Personal Health Information Act.
Earlier this year concerned parents spoke out about the interpretation of a decades’ old policy under the new digital CorCare system.
The issue was in relation to parental access to the medical files of children between the ages of 12 and 15.
That situation prompted government to initiate a review of the legislation.

Now, government is looking for public feedback on the privacy rights and decision-making authority of young people, including the roles of children, their parents, guardians, and health care providers.
The province is also seeking feedback on the findings and recommendations contained in a 2023 report on the legislation.
The goal of the review is to address the concerns raised earlier this year.
An online questionnaire is available through the EngageNL site, and there are options to provide written feedback as well.
Government says the information gathered will inform potential legislative amendments during the fall sitting of the House of Assembly.
Online submissions through EngageNL will be accepted until September 21.
Written submissions will be accepted until September 30. Submissions can be emailed to PHIAReview2026@gov.nl.ca.
