The lead for transportation on St. John’s city council says many of the road construction projects currently underway should be completed by the start of the school year.
Kate Cadigan says it’s been a busy road construction season in the capital city and they’re working to make sure that most projects wrap up before the school buses hit the roads.
A couple of major projects remain, however.
“Construction is still underway in the Airport Heights area…that one won’t be completed by the time school starts. And also there is still work being done on Canada Drive near Cowan Heights Elementary which may impede traffic.”
Cadigan admits the work on Canada Drive is behind schedule, but they’ve been working with the contractor to get that going at a faster pace.
