There were no injuries, but damage was extensive following a fire at a commercial building in Long Cove Friday afternoon.
Members of the Norman’s Cove-Long Cove Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene just after 3:00 Friday afternoon.
The fire department is offering its thanks to bystanders who jumped into action, helping local firefighters by laying hoses and getting equipment set up while additional firefighters were making their way to the scene.
The department was joined by members of the Long Harbour-Mount Arlington Heights and Bellevue-Thornlea-Bellevue Beach fire departments.
Newfoundland Power was also on-scene to cut power to live wires.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
