The case against a man accused of impaired driving causing death has been set over until early next month.

Tyler Day appeared in court yesterday via video link from the Bishop’s Falls Correctional Institute.

The 32-year-old is accused of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death in a vehicle-pedestrian collision at Thorburn Road and Larkhall Street that claimed the life of a 6-year-old boy.

Day, who has been appearing in court by video, requested an interpreter yesterday, a move that appeared to surprise the court. Day is deaf or hard of hearing but does not understand American Sign Language. He can read lips however.

His matter is expected to be called in court on October 5.
