A recent Angus Reid survey shows that Mark Carney’s response in the face of rising tensions with the United States has resulted in what some are calling a “Trump bump” in his approval ratings.
The latest poll results show that three-in-five Canadians (or 62 per cent) approve of the Prime Minister’s performance – up 11 points from August.

The increase comes after three-quarters of Canadians surveyed indicated that Carney was right to walk away from trade negotiations in the face of new U.S. demands.

However, Canadians are divided on Canada’s bargaining power. Thirty-one per cent say the country is in a strong negotiating position, while 34 per cent say it is weak.
