A program which helps those who lost their primary residence in the Conception Bay North wildfires and who did not carry insurance is being extended.
The Temporary Housing Assistance Program is being extended until March 31 so that residents who lost their primary residence can continue to receive financial support for temporary housing.
As well, government has directed the Canadian Red Cross to focus on the province’s $3.1-million portion of the Appeal Fund on supporting long-term housing solutions for those households.
As part of the recovery efforts, officials from the CBN Wildfire Response and Recovery Team and from the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation will be scheduling one-on-one sessions with each of the households in question in the coming weeks to discuss options.
