Stella Circle officially opened its new supportive housing complex in St. John’s today.

The site, at an undisclosed location in downtown St. John’s, contains 15 units, geared towards those who have experienced gender-based violence, homelessness or who have been through the justice system.

Laura Winters of Stella’s Circle says there is a significant housing shortage in the city and more units are needed to fill the gap.

“There are incredible efforts being made in the community sector with our partners in government, but honestly, (not enough is being done). The outcome is not meeting the need,” says Winters.
