The capital city has released neighbourhood plans for Rennie’s River, and the centre-city and Mundy Pond areas, setting the blueprint for the way in which those communities grow and change in future.
Panning lead, councillor Tom Davis says residents and businesses where able to share what they think is important and where they see room for improvement.

The Rennie’s River plan focuses on continued growth in the Torbay Road and Macdonald Drive area, and changes to the Elizabeth Avenue corridor to move from a traffic-oriented commercial and office area to “walkable street-oriented” mixed use.
The Central and Mundy Pond neighbourhoods meanwhile were lumped together because of their close proximity and what the city says are “many shared characteristics.”
The plan for that area focuses on a neighbourhood centre in the LeMarchant Road area, expanded mixed-use opportunities on Ropewalk Lane, and infilling unused land in the Empire Avenue area in conjunction with Wishingwell Park and the St. John’s Community Market.
