Two people are facing weapons charges after a cache of guns, knives and a machete were seized after a car was stopped in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Officers stopped a vehicle speeding on Cromer Avenue near Shanawdithit Centennial Park around 1:00 Monday morning.
The 31-year-old man behind the wheel had no licence and was driving without valid insurance.
Police spotted a prohibited firearm, and got a warrant to search the vehicle.
Officers ended up seizing two imitation firearms, ammunition, a machete, several knives, a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cannabis and cash.
RCMP say Robert James Reid and 39-year-old Suzy Anthony, each from Grand Falls-Windsor, are facing a number of charges including:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
- Possession of a weapon obtained by crime,
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
- Possession of a firearm when knowing its possession is unauthorized,
- Possession of firearm / weapon / device / ammunition in a motor vehicle,
- Possession of restricted firearm / prohibited weapon with ammo without licence / registration,
- Unsafe storage of firearms
They were held pending a court appearance.
