The Mayor of Mount Pearl says maintenance of infrastructure is one of the biggest issues municipalities are currently facing.

The city is availing of $7 million in federal funding for water and wastewater upgrades in the Park Avenue area.

Mayor Dave Aker says that funding will go a long way in addressing infrastructure needs in the area.

He says without the federal funding, only one half to two-thirds of the project would get done.
