The RNC is expected to give local car meets some added attention following a shocking incident last Thursday on Kenmount Road.

A red Corvette was caught on video doing doughnuts in the middle of traffic on Kenmount Road, coming close to colliding with a number of other vehicles.

The incident prompted St. John’s city councilor Tom Davis to call for a greater police presence at local car meets.

RNC Constable Steph Myers says public safety is of utmost concern.

She says “we’re going to give those groups some added attention just to ensure public safety, given the recent driving behavours.”

“However there are people who abide by the rules, so we’re not deterring people from enjoying their vehicles and meeting up, it’s the dangerous driving behaviours and putting the public at risk that we’re concerned with.”
