He may have a lifetime achievement award under his belt, but Con O’Brien and the Irish Descendants are far from slowing down.
O’Brien received the honour during the MusicNL awards gala last night, and says he was “overwhelmed by the recognition.”
The band is 36-years-old, and he admits that’s a long time for any group to be together.
Despite being around for over three-and-a-half decades, O’Brien says they are still hard at it.
He says the band is working harder than ever, noting that they are coming close to performing at 100 shows this year.
O’Brien thinks of all the people that have been involved with, and supported the band over the years.
He mentions the original members of the group, and says there are “so many people” over the years that have touched the band. In particular, O’Brien thinks of his late mother, and laughs while saying “I think I still owe her money from financing the outings for this band.”
