A protest and rally took place in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this afternoon, focused on school safety and six teaching vacancies at Peacock Primary.
The Independent member for Lake Melville Keith Russell challenged Education Minister Paul Dinn on what action government is willing to take to address the issue.
Russell asked whether the minister was willing to consider “any and all options” including “school closures, reduced school days, or classroom closures to ensure schools operate safely, and provide the best possible learning environment for students.”
Minister Dinn says “safety is paramount” and he’s paid a visit to the region, as has the President of the NLTA. “We’ve had discussions, we’re going to continue to have those discussions.”
