The man behind the complaint that sparked Project Brave—the investigation into an alleged breach of trust by former cabinet minister Sherry Gambin-Walsh—has issued a statement reacting to the case.
RNC Chief Joe Boland says on March 4, he became aware of an apparent leak to an RNC officer of a confidential cabinet document on promotions within the Constabulary.

Boland says in the interest of ensuring independence, fairness, transparency, and appropriate accountability, and in order to maintain public confidence in both the RNC and publicly elected officials, he requested an independent investigation into the incident, with oversight by SIRT NL.
The investigation found that a minister deliberately and without proper authority transmitted information protected by cabinet confidence, but the Nova Scotia Crown concluded there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction.
Boland says in the interest of protecting the integrity of an ongoing RNC internal investigation no further comment will be made at this time.
