Big game hunting season gets underway in the province today, with some changes to how it operates.
All moose management areas across the island open today. That’s a departure from previous years, where eastern regions opened three weeks later than the rest of the island.
For the first time, crossbows will be permitted for big game hunting.
The ‘Jawbone Collection Program’ has been reintroduced this year for each moose or caribou harvested under one’s licence.
Over 28,000 moose licences have been issued across the province.
Further details are available through this year’s Hunting and Trapping Guide.
