A rally in support of jobs in the province’s offshore is planned for Wednesday at Confederation Building.
Members of Unifor Local 2121 are calling attention to what they call the urgent need for government to help protect jobs in the East Coast energy sector.
The rally is scheduled for tomorrow at noon at Confederation Building.
Trades NL Concerned as Around 80 Per Cent of Members Unemployed

Meanwhile, Trades NL says it’s been six months since COVID-19 shut down construction on the West White Rose project, and the time for action on jobs is now. Executive Director Darin King says some 80 to 85 per cent of the trades workers he represents are currently unemployed.
He says we’ve moved from a potential project like Bay du Nord to the Terra Nova refit being put on hold and now West White Rose, which is 60 per cent complete, potentially not going ahead.
PC’s Offshore Plan a Rehash of Liberals’ Way Forward: Parsons

And in the House of Assembly yesterday, Opposition Leader Ches Crosbie was quick to table the PC’s Action Plan for Jobs in the Offshore and questioned Energy Minister Andrew Parsons on the same.
He asked for the Furey government to table its jobs plan for the offshore. Minister Parsons responded that had Crosbie been doing a school project, he would have been called out for plagiarism. Parsons says most of the PC plan is a re-hashing of everything the previous minister had already done. He tabled the Liberals’ Way Forward on Oil and Gas in response.
