A Newfoundland man with a long history of sexual assaults against young females is back behind bars, accused of yet another serious assault this past weekend.
It was just last summer that the RNC went public with a warning that sixty-year-old Dennis Peter Murphy had moved into the Paradise area after completing a long federal prison sentence for sex offenses against young girls.
It only took two days for Murphy to break the conditions of his release by not checking in with police. He was arrested but again made bail. At the time, the RNC said they feared Murphy would strike again, and now it’s alleged he did just that, last Friday, in Paradise.
Details of the incident have yet to be released, but Murphy has been charged under section 246 of the Criminal Code, which involves rendering a person unable to defend themselves against an attack. He has previously been convicted of supplying young girls with booze and drugs before forcing them to have sex.
Murphy is also charged with assault causing bodily harm and numerous breaches of conditions surrounding his release.
He remains in custody at Her Majesty’s Penitentiary pending another bid for bail later this week.
