If you have any thoughts on the Downtown Pedestrian Mall experiment in St. John’s, now is the time to speak up.
A section of Water Street was lined off with no vehicles allowed. Businesses expanded into the street with decks and people flocked to the area during a very warm summer.
Councillor Debbie Hanlon, the lead for Downtown St. John’s, says public support for the project was tremendous and she is committed to hosting similar events in the future.
On-street interviews have already taken place, with meetings and focus groups currently ongoing.
The city is collecting feedback on what worked well, and what improvements can be made. Ideas that are generated through the public engagement process will help inform a report which will be brought to city council later in the fall.
The deadline for feedback is Oct. 9.
