Metro police were back on the Dominion picket line in Donovan’s Industrial Park again this morning much to the dismay of the union, but they left after workers agreed to move aside and let delivery trucks through.
Strikers had taken the secondary picket at Weston’s Bakery down but reinstated it yesterday. Unifor negotiator Chris Macdonald says it’s unbelievable the lengths that the RNC will go to support Loblaw.
He says they have heard from four RNC officers who do not like being forced by their employer to move in on the picketers.
Macdonald says not one truck was trying to get out all night but as soon as the police arrived, trucks pulled out of the loading dock, police went in and threatened to arrest everyone.
I'm told the @RNC_PoliceNL were at the @Unifor597 @UniforTheUnion picket line earlier. I spoke with a couple of strikers who said they were asked to let the delivery trucks through, and that they cooperated and let them pass @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/Rlx7yGI7C1

The RNC, meanwhile, say there were reports that several trucks were blocked from accessing the highway from a parking lot by picketers.
They told the union that such activity was an offence under the Criminal Code, but say the picketers cooperated and let the vehicles through.
