The leader of the federal NDP claims that guaranteed livable income is “absolutely feasible” even during these trying economic times, but says it needs to be a piece to a bigger puzzle in helping struggling Canadians.
Jagmeet Singh recently met virtually with stakeholders in Newfoundland and Labrador to talk about the issue.
He says that ideally, such a program would be paid for by those who can afford it—meaning Canada’s millionaires and big corporations.
Singh believes such a system would improve access to housing and healthcare. He says the program would need to be part of a bigger picture focused on making sure everyone can get ahead.
