The Heritage Foundation of NL is expressing disappointment over the demolition of a historic structure in Norris Point.
Executive Director Jerry Dick says the historic Caines House, which was built in 1880 and declared a registered heritage structure by the organization a decade ago, has been destroyed.
Dick calls the loss “unfortunate,” but what’s worse is that the Heritage Foundation of NL only found out about the structure’s demise after the fact via a social media post.
He says had they been aware with the situation, they could have worked with the owner to try to save what was one of the last heritage houses in the community.
