The Opposition and government fired salvos at each other across the floor of the House of Assembly today on Canopy Growth’s decision not to go ahead with a massive indoor cultivation facility in the East White Hills.
The house opened to pass legislation allowing some workers, under specific circumstances, to unlock their pensions.
Ches Crosbie started debate in Question Period on the Canopy Growth situation.
The House erupted in laughter and applause when Crosbie quipped that “the Liberal government must be the first dealer in the history of the world not to make money on weed.”

Crosbie called Canopy Growth a “Liberal signature project.” That caused Industry Minister Andrew Parsons to fire back.
He told the House they could get into a debate on the semantics surrounding a so-called signature project, pointing to the Corner Brook hospital as an example.
The hospital, first announced by the former PC government in 2007 was stalled for years.
