Parents have been notified by schools in recent days that students will be sent home with their supplies on the last day before the Christmas holiday.
The board calls it a proactive move, but it’s led to widespread speculation about the possibility of an extended break from in-class instruction after Christmas.
Teachers’ Union President Dean Ingram says he understands a proactive approach.
He hopes that things don’t change over the Christmas break, but if they do, it’s better for students to be prepared and have their supplies with them.
