The Department of Health says about 1,900 health care workers in eastern Newfoundland have been inoculated as the province steams forward with Phase One of its vaccination plan.
Another shipment of Pfizer’s vaccine arrived in this province earlier this week and was allocated for high-priority health care workers as their required second dose.
Further shipments are expected in the new year, which will be distributed to each of the provincial health authorities for priority groups.
Meanwhile, the newly-approved Moderna vaccine is expected to touch down in the province next week with an initial load of 2,400 doses. A second shipment is slated for the week of January 11.
Those doses are destined for remote and isolated Indigenous communities in Labrador.
