A young man has been arrested following a stabbing in Gander last night.
20-year-old Cameron Angell of Noggin Cove was picked up by RCMP around midnight in connection with the incident which occurred during a gathering at a Gander home.
Police say the victim was already being treated in hospital when they got the call around 11 p.m. They say the victim, who has since been released, and the suspect are known to each other.
RCMP say Angell left the home where the incident occurred on foot, but was spotted walking along the road a short time later. He was arrested without incident, at which time police found what they’re calling “a prohibited weapon.”
Angell made a brief court appearance this morning and was released on several conditions. He faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon
He’s due back in court on February 2.
