The deadline to apply for a special ballot in the provincial election has again been extended to Friday, February 19 at 8 p.m. to ensure everyone has an opportunity to exercise their right to vote.
Chief Electoral Officer, Bruce Chaulk says since the change was made to vote exclusively by special ballot, Elections NL has added more resources to support the process.
A local call centre will now be fielding calls. Anyone who has contacted Elections NL to request a voting kit can expect a return phone call within a few days.
Chaulk says special ballot voting has been used in Newfoundland and Labrador in numerous by-elections and general elections in the past. He says it is a legally recognized mechanism to conduct a fair election.
Completed voting kits must be returned to Elections NL on or before Friday, March 5.
For inquiries about Special Ballot voting, electors can call 1-877-729-7987 (toll-free) or 729-0789 (local). #nlpoli #nlvotes
