Staff have been sent home from two fire stations in the metro area after a front-line employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The St. John’s Regional Fire Department has confirmed that an employee who recently reported for work at the Brookfield and Paradise fire stations has recently been diagnosed with the virus. At the request of Public Health, workers at both stations have been sent home to isolate.
A new crew is in place at the Paradise station. The Brookfield department is expected to be operational this evening with a new staff following a deep cleaning of the station.
Protocols are in place by SJRFD to protect emergency response while new staff are being brought in.
