RCMP are investigating following alleged threats made to burn down a cabin in the Howley area in Western Newfoundland Tuesday night.
Deer Lake RCMP were called after a man allegedly assaulted another man and threatened to burn down a cabin.
When officers arrived, they advised two occupants of the cabin by phone to leave the property. The pair left for a safe location.
RCMP say the man was alone inside the cabin with access to firearms and ammunition, and the area was contained for public safety reasons. He was eventually taken into custody without incident. Three unsecured firearms were located and seized.
The man remains in custody as the investigation continues.
