Two provincial water bombers and a team of three firefighters were deployed to quell the flames burning in a parcel of land just outside the community.
Photos from the area show smoke billowing from a wooded area near the town, and provincial tankers refilling in Red Indian Lake.
A spokesperson with the provincial forestry department says the fire was significant, and crews were paying close attention as there are cabins in the area, as well as a power substation.
Due to the fire burning near the substation, power was cut to the town before 3 p.m.
