Andrew Parsons—the minister of industry, energy, and technology—is singing the praises of Jennifer Williams as she is appointed as the new interim CEO of Nalcor.
Williams will take over at the helm of Nalcor following current CEO Stan Marshall’s retirement on June 15.
Parsons says they needed someone to lead Nalcor into the future, and there’s “no one better” than Williams. He states that she is capable and competent, and has the history to back it up as the president of NL Hydro.
When asked whether the decision to appoint the President of Hydro as the CEO means Nalcor is in the beginning of the dismantling process, all Parsons would say is that there’s still a lot of conversations that need to happen. Now that an interim CEO is in place, those conversations can continue says Parsons, who calls the situation a “work in progress.”
But, he does affirm that there is a desire to make things smoother, more streamlined, and more efficient.
