The federal government has announced $1.3-million dollars in funding for organizations that support women and victims of human trafficking.
The Association for New Canadians receives $400,000 through the Human Trafficking Initiative to enhance supports and advance knowledge for at-risk populations as well as victims and survivors of human trafficking.
Multicultural Women’s Organization of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs get $450,000 each through the Women’s Program.
Federal Minister Seamus O`Regan made the announcement.
He says fostering long-term change and empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable groups is important.
