The Premier says the whole issue surrounding the stalled Terra Nova project is not about the workers vs. government, but about trying to create a situation whereby private industry reaches a conclusion that is best for all involved.

An emergency debate in the House of Assembly this morning is coinciding with a demonstration outside Confederation Building organized by labour.
All political parties in the House are expected to address the rally.
Companies and government are at an impasse with the deadline looming on the extension project.
Premier Andrew Furey told VOCM’s Gerri Lynn Mackey at Confed Bldg this morning that there are still 80-million barrels of oil in the ground.
Furey says the oil companies make barrels of money as the ones who assume the risk. However, he reiterated that it’s just too risky for government to take the risk right now as it doesn’t have the flexibility.
