A Pouch Cove man accused of violent sex crimes against two children will return to court in early July to enter pleas to the charges against him.
35-year-old Chris Carter is alleged to have committed the acts between January and May of this year.
Carter, who has been in custody since he was charged earlier this month, was expected to enter pleas this morning but defence counsel says they’re waiting for more disclosure from the Crown.
The well-known local musician and former downtown bar owner made a brief appearance in provincial court through a videoconference from Her Majesty’s Penitentiary.
Meanwhile, people familiar with him and his case continued to protest outside Atlantic Place, pleading with the court to deny any attempt at bail.
Carter faces charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual exploitation.
He’s due back in court on July 6.
