No agreement has yet been reached, but the province is still in discussions with North Atlantic Refining Limited on additional financial support for the Come By Chance oil refinery.
A funding agreement was announced earlier this year to keep the refinery in warm idle until the end of June.
The Department of Industry, Energy and Technology says its understanding is that NARL will continue with its current level of employment while discussions continue.
Private equity firm Cresta Fund Management earlier this year offered to buy a majority stake in North Atlantic Reining Limited, hoping to convert the idled refinery into renewable fuel production.
